Seaside@Stowe is an event being organised by the Community Project Team. Currently there are 21,000 children in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes living in absolute poverty. Almost all of these have never been on holiday before. The experience of a holiday provides many benefits to families – a chance to build relationships with each other, a break from financial stresses and strains, new experiences, and it has also been proven to also have many mental health benefits. The Getaway Foundation raises funds and organises UK seaside holidays for families in absolute poverty in the local area.
We are holding a fundraising event for Sixth Form pupils which brings the UK seaside to Stowe with all the money raised being donated to the Getaway Foundation.
The event will be open to Sixth Form Pupils only. Stoics purchase tickets to the event on the school VLE, at a cost of £10, these will be available from Thursday 29 April – Friday 7 May.
On Sunday 23 May 2021, Stoics will be entitled to participate in a range of typical beachside fun and games such as Punch and Judy shows, caricatures, ice creams, live music and volleyball.
Stoics are able to upgrade to a VIP ticket, which will come at a total cost of £15. This will give entry to the event and also place their name into a raffle to win prizes such as;
An afternoon on the trials bikes followed by supper with The Head for you and 2 friends.
Breakfast in bed
A takeaway for you and 2 friends
A hamper of baked goods
Dinner out in Buckingham for you and 2 friends (COVID restrictions permitting)
A cinema trip for you and two friends (COVID restrictions permitting)
A box of Krispy Kreme Donuts
An ice cream sundae bar for you and 5 friends
Specific time slots will be allocated for the event in order to allow for social distancing and the maintenance of year group bubbles. Stoics must be certain to attend at their allotted time.
This day should provide a welcome relief from what has been a difficult year, and also help raise funds for the Getaway Foundation.
By signing up to the event, Stoics are agreeing that the amount will be deducted from their pocket money. It is therefore crucial that parents, Stoics and HSPs ensure there are sufficient funds in pocket money accounts to allow for this payment to be made, without the money, they will not be able to purchase tickets and attend the event/enter the raffle.
